Luminex Resources Expedites Drilling at El Hito Copper-Molybdenum Porphyry Target

Luminex Resources announced the discovery of a porphyry copper-molybdenum porphyry target located 500 meters north of its El Hito property at its Condor project in southeast Ecuador. The target area is characterized by overlapping anomalies of >250 ppm copper and >10 ppm molybdenum as delineated by a recently completed soil survey.

The anomaly extends approximately 1800 m from north to south and 700 m from east to west and generally coincides with pervasively altered, veined, and mineralized diorite porphyry.

The southern portion of the El Hito soil anomaly contains historic drill holes while the northern portion of the anomaly remains undrilled. The former operator drilled a total of 4,687 meters in nine holes, including an interval of 0.58% Cu over 172 meters starting at 8 meters in the hole. The northern portion of the soil anomaly was recently discovered to contain an area approximately 320 meters in diameter with the majority of the rock chip samples exceeding 0.4% copper.

Luminex geologists explain that observations suggest that historical drilling may not have reached the highest grade portion of the copper-molybdenum porphyry system at El Hito. Luminex Resources’ initial 1,500-meter five-hole drilling program at El Hito will test this zone and expand outward from there at 100-meter intervals, with drilling to begin in the near future on a hole that will dip to the east. Since resuming drilling at Los Cuyes in early May, the Company has completed three holes.
