China’s Domestic Rare Earth Price - April 13, 2022

China’s domestic rare earth price is still in the downward trend in the middle of April. Against the background of poor downstream demand and the gradual release of production capacity of mining enterprises, the inventory of rare earth raw materials is slightly loose, resulting in the lack of confidence of holders to stabilize prices, and the short-term market is unlikely to stop falling and rebound.

The current prices of praseodymium neodymium oxide, terbium oxide and dysprosium iron alloy are around 850,000, 12,700 and 2,500,000 respectively.

From the perspective of the supply side, in addition to the limited increase in the first batch of rare earth mining total control indicators this year, the strengthening of environmental protection efforts, the tense epidemic situation in many provinces and the changing weather have all hindered the production of rare earth mining enterprises to a large extent. In addition, the import of mines in Myanmar is blocked, and the growth rate of spot inventory in the market is even slower.

From the perspective of demand, due to the relatively tense epidemic situation in many provinces and the greater traffic pressure, the downstream industry of rare earth has been hit to a certain extent, which in turn affects the demand for rare earth raw materials by magnetic material enterprises and other enterprises. The general mentality has led to the fact that new orders are even rarer in recent days. However, in the long run, the development prospects of downstream fields such as new energy vehicles and wind power are optimistic, which is expected to drive the demand for rare earths.

News: Prices of rare earth and tungsten concentrates in Jiangxi Province both rose in the first quarter of 2022. In the first quarter, the average sales prices of Ganzhou high yttrium oxides and medium yttrium europium compounds per ton were 473,300 yuan and 410,000 yuan respectively, up 23.48% and 28.13% month-on-month, and 61.36% and 81.42% year-on-year, of which per ton in March The average sales prices were 480,000 yuan and 420,000 yuan, both flat month-on-month, up 26.32% and 50.00% year-on-year, respectively.
