China Rare Earth Price - April 1, 2022

China rare earth price continued to show downward trend in the week ended on Friday April 1, 2022, mainly due to the spread of panic among suppliers, weak demand from buyers and limited support from favorable policies.

However, in the long run, due to the limited increase in domestic rare earth mining total control indicators, the continuous strengthening of environmental protection efforts and the good development prospects of the new energy market, there are still industry players who have great expectations for the future market.

According to Chinatungsten Online, the prices of praseodymium, neodymium, dysprosium and terbium series products have dropped significantly this week, that is, the prices of praseodymium and neodymium oxide and praseodymium oxide have dropped by about $6,451.6/ton and $4,838.7/ton respectively, while dysprosium oxide and praseodymium neodymium metal prices fell below $451,612.9/ton and $193,548.4/ton respectively.

The main reasons for the unsatisfactory market transaction volume and price are: affected by the repeated global epidemic and the situation in Russia and Ukraine has not yet completely calmed down, the development speed of industries such as automobiles and consumer electronics is still relatively slow, and the current price of rare earth raw materials is still not low. Therefore, buyers have a more wait-and-see mood; and in the context of poor demand, an increase in the supply of rare earth raw materials, and limited policy force, many stockholders are more willing to take the initiative to lower prices and sell.

In terms of news: China's manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) released by the National Bureau of Statistics and the Federation of Logistics and Purchasing in March was 49.5%, down 0.7 percentage points from the previous month, falling into the contraction range for the first time in nearly five months. The non-manufacturing business activity index was 48.4%, down 3.2 percentage points from the previous month, falling into the contraction range for the first time in seven months.
