China’s Ferro Tungsten Price Keeps Firm Due to Electricity Limited

China’s ferro tungsten and tungsten powder prices maintain stability on October 25, 2021 when market participants focus on the relationship between supply and demand affected by the spread of Covid-19 and electricity limited. 

Seasonal factors in the fourth quarter have made the global epidemic situation relatively negative. The US-led currency oversupply has further exacerbated global supply chain problems, mismatched with the demand for the recovery of the manufacturing industry, and led to structural shortages of energy and rising prices of raw and auxiliary materials.  

For the tungsten industry, although the demand for back-end machining of alloys or the consumption of high-temperature alloys has been impacted by the epidemic to a certain extent, the cost problem squeezes corporate profits. The tungsten raw material manufacturers have strong hopes for rising prices, but the demand side does not follow up timely. 

Electricity curtailment measures in various provinces in China have varying degrees of impact on the entire tungsten industry chain. For example, the high cost of chemical raw materials has led to the steadily rising APT processing costs, and the reduction and shutdown of high-energy-consuming enterprises will affect the production and consumption of ferro-tungsten, alloys and their downstream industries. The recent introduction of Jiangxi’s electricity curtailment policy has further impacted the industry's mentality, and the supply and demand sides of the tungsten market may shrink.
