American Resources Corporation, a next generation and socially responsible supplier of raw materials to the new infrastructure and electrification marketplace, plans to build a 2-kilowatt mobile electrolytic cell rare earth processing plant. The company said that this move is part of its rare earth element technology process chain commercialization plan utilizing the acquired technology and patents from Ohio University in addition to its partnership with sponsored research programs and Dr. Gerardine Botte.
American Resources represents that the equipment represents an innovative method of utilizing Coal Electrolytic Cell (CEC) technology to produce by-products such as coal, coal waste and fly ash into REE concentrates, carbon, purified fly ash and hydrogen. The plant design is based on successful technical analysis and uses typical fly ash from Ohio. The fly ash has a particle size of less than 75 microns, which can generate hydrogen in the cathode of the electrolytic cell and extract 65% of yttrium (Y), 59 % dysprosium (Dy) and 76% ytterbium (Yb)."
The company said the capital expenditure cost of the initial rare earth processing plant was less than $1 million. Because it is a mobile application, it can be transported to various internal and external sites to process and evaluate specific fly ash and coal-based raw material at each location.
Owning this equipment will help to discover the specific economic value of each raw material feedstock site, the economic benefits of key elements and rare earth elements, develop the fly ash-concrete market, and the carbon and hydrogen recovered in the process.
The electrolysis stage of its "capture-processing-purification" of the rare earth processing plant technological process chain has formulated the principle of low-cost and environmentally safe production of rare-earth element concentrates. The facility of American Resources will be completed in the next six months and is ready for on-site deployment in the third or fourth quarter of this year.
