Jiangxi to Expand Scope of Rare Earth Shutdown

According to the arrangement of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, the Fourth Ecological Environmental Protection Supervisory Group carry out inspection and stationing in Jiangxi province from April 7 to May 7. This inspection will expand the scope of Ganzhou rare earth companies' suspension of production.

In the second half of this month, the local environmental protection department in Ganzhou conducted a self-examination in advance. According to the report, the oxidation that was affected and the output of neodymium is about 400 tons (based on the suspension of production in a month).

As the central environmental protection inspection team went to Jiangxi province, the scope of the shutdown of REE companies in Ganzhou has been further expanded. Compared with the local self-inspection stage, the shutdown includes some raw ore separation companies and related state-owned enterprises.

Most of the separation plants in the Longnan area have stopped or reduced production and the remaining companies also have to stop production on April 10. The phenomenon of suspension of production is also spreading in large factories. However, companies with higher environmental protection capabilities have not been affected for the time being, such as the largest separation company under Southern Rare Earth (Xinfeng) Co., Ltd.

If calculated according to the one-month suspension period and the 50% reduction in the operating rate of the reduced production company, the current output affected by the environmental protection inspection of Ganzhou, the preliminary statistics converted to at least 1,200 tons of neodymium oxide.

The suspension of rare earth production in Ganzhou of Jiangxi province is expected to stimulate downstream companies to replenish goods. According to reports, in Ningbo, neodymium metal procurement inquiries were hot on April 8, and the transaction has picked up, while price reduction is still common for the time being.
