Rare Earth Glass Coating as First Batch of New Materials in Inner Mongolia

Recently, the EASYTO·1098 heat-insulating rare earth glass coating of the Northern Rare Earth Institute was listed as the first batch of new materials at the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region level in 2020. The coating could be applied on the surface of the glass directly, in addition to blocking solar radiation, it can also achieve the effects of heat insulation, heat preservation, and energy saving when combined with hollow glass.

It is reported that the EASYTO·1098 heat-insulating rare earth glass coating in Inner Mongolia achieves 95% infrared or ultraviolet heat-insulating effect, and could be quickly cool down within 3 hours, with a maximum adjustable temperature of 7 to 15 degrees Celsius, saving energy of 25% to 40%. Compared with the current market-oriented glass film, low-E glass and other similar products, the new coating has the advantages of better thermal insulation effect, higher convenience, and stronger physical and chemical stability.

For a long time, the core technology and intellectual property rights of thermal insulation glass coating materials have been controlled by developed countries such as the United States, Japan, and Europe. Domestic is still in a blank in the field of thermal insulation glass coating materials. According to Dr. Jian Yin from the Institute, the research team has developed the kilogram-scale preparation technology of the thermal insulation agents below 100 nanometers by using the unique electronic structure and physical and chemical properties, and prepared a variety of nano thermal insulation agents.

Fei Lu, a senior engineer of the Institute, said: "The principle is that the nanoparticles own a local surface plasmon resonance effect, through scientific and technological means, the nano powder is uniformly dispersed in each system. In the process, a long-lasting and stable nano heat-insulating agent is formed."

With the application of rare earth nano thermal insulation agents on glass coatings, the product performance indicators are comparable to foreign products, or even better. At the technical level, it has realized 'overtaking' and filled our country's thermal insulation glass coating materials.

It is understood that rare earth nano thermal insulation materials in Inner Mongolia can also be widely used in interlayer films for laminated glass such as EVA, PVB, TPU, coatings, plastics, films, displays, energy-saving windows for construction, and automobile windshields. At present, this new material has registered and authorized three product trademarks, and has signed agency agreements with nearly 100 distributors in more than 10 provinces across our country.
