Rare earth market update on July 14, 2025
At the beginning of the week, the domestic rare earth market showed a relatively positive overall trend. Driven by strong speculative sentiment among suppliers, the prices of most mainstream products saw varying degrees of increase, with praseodymium-neodymium oxide and erbium oxide prices rising by approximately 3,000 yuan per ton and 7,000 yuan per ton, respectively.
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, factors such as the current peak consumption season for rare earth permanent magnet materials, strong support from production costs, ongoing tight supply of rare earths overseas, limited increases in domestic rare earth spot supply, and optimistic market expectations have significantly bolstered suppliers’ confidence in raising prices. However, with the continuous rise in rare earth prices, coupled with complex global economic conditions and tight financial conditions among downstream rare earth enterprises, there remains significant room for improvement in market demand.
According to news from the Rare Earth High-Tech Zone, on July 9, Jinli Permanent Magnet’s third-phase project for the green manufacturing of 20,000 tons of high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials was launched in the Rare Earth High-Tech Zone. The project, with a total investment of 1.05 billion yuan and covering an area of 115 mu (approximately 7.67 hectares), primarily involves the construction of green intelligent manufacturing plants for high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials, production lines, and supporting facilities such as substations. Upon completion, Jinli Permanent Magnet’s Baotou base will have an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons of high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials, further solidifying its position as the world’s largest production base for such materials and continuously contributing “magnetic” momentum to the development of Baotou’s “two rare earth bases.”
