Tungsten Carbide Rod Sintering
Sintering is the last process of tungsten carbide rod extrusion method. It affects the density and chemical properties of the products in a large degree. It also decides the performance and quality of the products. Due to a lot of binder is being used in the process of tungsten carbide rod extrusion, the shrink rate is very large during the sintering (it can reach to 12%-18%). So the control of shape and dimension is a big problem. And the tungsten carbide rod extrusion method makes it become a shape piece, it becomes more significant.
Also, the sintering temperature, atmosphere and the heating rate have a great influence on the performance and quality of the product. Currently, tungsten carbide rod is being processed via vacuum sintering + HIP (hot isostatic pressing) and low pressure sintering. Plasma discharge sintering (SPS), microwave sintering and some fast, low temperature sintering technology has become a new search area.
