Cesium tungsten bronze particles are applied for preparing heat insulation coating as they have good shielding performance to near-infrared rays and high transmittance to visible light. In other words, heat insulation coating of cesium tungsten bronze particles shields heat radiation in the sunlight without influencing the day lighting. Also, cesium tungsten bronze nanoparticles have significant catalytic property.

According to the experts, cesium tungsten bronze can be synthesized by a hydrothermal method with ammonium paratungstate and cesium nitrate as the raw materials. Wherein, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) is used as both template and reductant. In this process, they investigated the effects of preparation conditions, such as amount of EDTA, concentration of the precursor, ratio of Cs to W, on the composition and morphology of the products. And the experts applied the as-synthesized products as catalyst to the dehydration of glycerol to acrolein and the content of Cs in the cesium tungsten bronze was found to have significant effect on the catalytic property. The product with Cs/W=0.2:1 showed better performance than the others, with a glycerol conversion of 81.3 % and a high selectivity of 92.9 % to acrolein.
