APT and Ferrotungsten Prices Strengthen - August 8, 2025

Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online

Tungsten prices rebounded after a slight decline this week. 

Tungsten raw material prices dipped slightly at the start of the week, boosting some trading, before stabilizing. Following the release of guidance prices from institutions and major companies, market participants' confidence in supporting the market further strengthened. Currently, the raw material market remains tight, with strong cost support. While some businesses are selling at low prices to alleviate financial pressure, overall supportive sentiment remains dominant. Demand, however, remains subdued due to delayed orders. The tungsten market is generally trading sideways at a high level.

65% wolframite concentrate is quoted at RMB 196,000/ton, up 0.5% week-on-week and 37.1% year-on-year.

65% scheelite concentrate is quoted at RMB 195,000/ton, up 0.5% week-on-week and 37.3% year-on-year.

Ammonium paratungstate (APT) is quoted at RMB 288,000/ton, up 0.7% week-on-week and 36.5% year-on-year.

European APT prices are USD 475-495/mtu (RMB 302,000-315,000/ton), up 2.1% week-over-week and 47.0% from the beginning of the year.

Tungsten powder is priced at RMB 436/kg, up 1.4% week-over-week and 38.0% from the beginning of the year.

Tungsten carbide powder is priced at RMB 426/kg, up 1.4% week-over-week and 37.0% from the beginning of the year.

70 ferrotungsten is priced at RMB 295,000/ton, up 1.7% week-over-week and 37.2% from the beginning of the year.

European ferrotungsten is priced at USD 65-66/kg W (RMB 327,000-332,000/ton), up 6.1% week-over-week and 48.9% from the beginning of the year.

Tungsten scrap rods are priced at RMB 322/kg, unchanged week-over-week and 46.4% from the beginning of the year.

Cobalt powder is priced at RMB 300/kg, up 3.4% week-on-week and 76.5% year-on-year.

Due to the sharp rise in tungsten and cobalt raw material prices, cemented carbide manufacturers raised their product prices again in August. High costs have led to slow transaction volumes.
