How to Take Links Off a Fossil Watch

Fossil watches, founded in 1984, focuses on creating innovative and affordable timepieces. Fossil has focused itself on becoming a nationally known brand, and Fossil watches can be found across the United States at many different retailers. Removing a link from a Fossil watch requires special tools and instructions, but can certainly be done at home.

1.Inspect the links closest to the watch buckle. If the narrow edge of the link contains a pin, move to step 2. If it contains a small screw head, move to section 2.

2.Place the soft cloth under the watch to prevent damage while working on the band.

3.Locate the arrows engraved on the underside of the band. These indicate the proper direction to push the pins.

4.Push the pin out of the band using the small driving tool (a push pin will work). Pull the pin from the other side of the link once it is partway out.

5.Repeat step 4, removing all needed links. Alternate sides of the band while removing, to balance the watch.

6.Close the band by joining the remaining band with the buckle using one of the removed pins. Push it in the opposite direction than the arrow.

7.Place the soft cloth under the watch to prevent damage while working on the band.

8.Locate the small screw heads in the removable links, on the narrow edge of each link.

9.Use the small screwdriver to remove the screw. If the screw will turn but not loosen, use the second screwdriver to hold the opposite side of the link steady.

10.Repeat step 3, removing all needed links. Alternate sides of the band while removing, to balance the watch.

11.Close the band by joining the remaining band with the buckle using one of the removed screws.
