Tungsten alloy collimator is a device of narrowing particle beam or light waves, which means that the particles are radiating in a particular direction with allowing only rays parallel to the collimator to pass, or narrowing the space cross-section beam so as to limit the amount of rays.

Tungsten alloy collimator is a part of radiation head of medical accelerator. In addition to the use of primary and secondary collimator electron radiation, electron beam limiting device equipped with the radiation head below can limit the range of electron radiation, while protecting normal tissues outside the target area and the vital organs from radiation. A collimator assembly typically includes a tungsten alloy multi-page grating, and a mobile device.

 

 

Tungsten alloy collimator can be divided into neutron ray collimator, X ray collimator and gamma ray collimator according to different rays. It is mainly used in the field of radiation therapy as a part of ray accelerator, and it can used for the treatment of malignant tumors, cancers and some benign diseases of human body.

 

A radiation collimator refers to an instrument that acts as a beam limiting and collimating device for radiation between a radiation source center and a measuring point. The radiation source center, radiation collimator, and detection system together constitute a complete testing system. The function of the radiation collimator is to limit the radiation beam. The radiation of the detector comes from the radiation source in the measurement field only when the collimator reaches the measuring point, thus reducing the interference of the background and improving the signal to noise ratio.

 

According to different measuring objects，the design of collimator is different. The collimator length ranges from a few centimeters to tens of centimeters, and the aperture ranges from microns to centimeters. The required collimation apertures of neutron and gamma images are small, which involves signal-to-noise ratio and spatial resolution parameter.
