The Reasons of Tungsten Contacts Ablation of Car Distributor -I

The reasons of tungsten contacts ablation of car distributor:

1. Tungsten contacts gap is too small. If tungsten contacts gap is too small, it will make the closing time of tungsten contacts extended, resulting in the disconnection of the primary winding and the increase of self-induced electromotive force, eventually the tungsten contacts will ablate due to the spark erosion of tungsten contacts intensified.

2. Battery wire connection is bad. If the battery wire connection is bad, then because the car in moving process will bump and vibrate, which would make the battery wire connection sometimes turned sometimes interrupted, causing the generator will occur briefly overvoltage phenomenon, so that the primary winding of the ignition system of self-induced electromotive force exceed and the primary current increase, leading to the formation of strong spark discharge between tungsten contacts, resulting in tungsten contact ablation.
