Tungsten Alloy Swaging Rod for C-602 Missile

Tungsten alloy swaging rod consists of W-Ni-Fe, W-Ni-Cu, W-Ni-Cu-Fe. It is made of tungsten alloy rod. Tungsten content ranges from 90% to 97%. Compared with tungsten alloy rod, tungsten alloy swaging rod has higher hardness and higher strength. Tungsten alloy swaging rod can be used as kinetic energy penetrator in C-602.

The C-602, also known as YJ-62, is a Chinese subsonic anti-ship missile that can also be used as a land attack cruise missile. The missile is equipped with a “mono-pulse frequency agile (active) radar seeker” with a maximum detection range in excess of 40 kilometres (25 mi) and a maximum lock-on range of 30 kilometres (19 mi). The sector of the scan of the seeker is ± 40 degrees. For the midcourse flight, inertial guidance is used with the help of strap-down inertial measurement unit (IMU) and GPS for the export version, while domestic version also incorporated GLONASS and domestic navigational systems.

C-602 penetrates armor on ship by utilizing kinetic energy. Kinetic energy has closed relationship with density of materials. Tungsten alloy swaging rod has high density, which means it can carry more kinetic energy than other materials, improving penetration of C-602.
