Rare Earth Market - August 15, 2025

Rare earth market update on August 15, 2025

This week, the overall domestic rare earth market remained moderate, influenced by high energy prices, moderate downstream demand, the peak consumption season for rare earth permanent magnet materials, and optimism among most industry players about future prospects.

The price trends of mainstream light and heavy rare earth products showed slight variations, with praseodymium-neodymium prices continuing to rise, while dysprosium-terbium prices remained stable. Today, the prices of neodymium oxide, erbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide are approximately 555,000 yuan per ton, 325,000 yuan per ton, and 1,620,000 yuan per ton, respectively.

According to CTIA GROUP LTD Online, this week, praseodymium-neodymium oxide prices increased by approximately 15,000 yuan per ton, a rise of 2.86%, praseodymium-neodymium metal prices rose by about 18,000 yuan per ton, a rise of 2.79%, terbium oxide prices decreased by around 40 yuan per kilogram, a drop of 0.57%, dysprosium oxide prices remained stable compared to last week, 55N neodymium-iron-boron blanks increased by about 1 yuan per kilogram, a rise of 0.41%, and neodymium-iron-boron scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) prices rose by approximately 16 yuan per kilogram, a rise of 2.80%. This indicates that praseodymium-neodymium prices saw significant increases this week, while dysprosium-terbium prices showed no notable changes.

Robotics is one of the application areas for rare earth functional materials. According to CCTV Finance, Morgan Stanley predicts that by 2050, the global humanoid robot market could reach a scale of 5 trillion USD, with over 1 billion humanoid robots potentially in use worldwide. In terms of usage scenarios, by 2050, approximately 90% of humanoid robots will primarily serve industrial and commercial sectors, performing repetitive, simple, and structured tasks. Among these, China is expected to become the country with the highest usage of humanoid robots globally, exceeding 300 million units, while the United States is projected to have about 77.7 million units.
