Test Methods for Impact Resistance of Tungsten Cemented Carbide Balls

The impact resistance test of tungsten cemented carbide balls is an important method to evaluate their ability to resist damage when subjected to external force impact, and is usually used to test the strength, toughness and durability of tungsten cemented carbide balls.

The test methods for impact resistance of tungsten cemented carbide balls mainly include the following:

1. Drop ball impact test:

Equipment: Drop ball impact tester

Principle: A steel ball or tungsten cemented carbide ball of specified mass is dropped freely from a specific height to impact the sample to be tested, and the degree of damage to the sample or whether it breaks is observed.

Steps:

(1) Select steel balls that meet the test standards (such as steel balls of different diameters and masses, usually according to standards such as JIS-K6745 or GB/T 9639.1-2008).

(2) Fix the tungsten cemented carbide ball sample on the test platform to ensure its stability. (3) Adjust the release height of the steel ball (such as 0.5m, 1m, etc.) and release the steel ball for impact.

(4) Check the surface cracks, deformation or breakage of the sample and record the impact energy and degree of damage.

(5) Multiple impacts can be performed to evaluate durability or compare the performance of different samples.

Applicability: Suitable for evaluating the impact resistance of tungsten cemented carbide balls and often used to test their performance under high-load environments.

Reference standard: GB/T 9639.1-2008 (Test method for impact resistance of plastic film and sheeting, partially applicable to hard materials) or JIS-K6745.

2. Pendulum impact test:

Equipment: Pendulum impact tester

Principle: Use a pendulum impact tester to impact the tungsten cemented carbide ball with the kinetic energy of the pendulum, measure the impact energy absorbed by it or observe the damage.

Steps:

(1) Fix the tungsten cemented carbide ball on the test machine fixture.

(2) Set the mass and release angle of the pendulum to control the impact energy. (3) Perform impact test and record the damage or energy absorption data of the sample. Applicability: Applicable to evaluating the toughness and fracture resistance of tungsten cemented carbide balls, commonly used in testing metals and hard materials. Dynamic load test: Equipment: Dynamic load tester Principle: Apply cyclic or instantaneous dynamic loads through a mechanical device to simulate the impact environment of tungsten cemented carbide balls in actual use. Steps: (1) Use a dedicated dynamic load test device to set the impact frequency and load size. (2) Perform multiple impacts on the carbide ball and record its durability and fatigue performance. Applicability: Suitable for simulating the impact resistance of tungsten cemented carbide balls in long-term use.
