Tungsten Trioxide-Polypyrrole-Graphene Composites Synthesis

Tungsten trioxide is a stable n-type semiconductor material, which has been widely used in gas sensors and electrochemical catalysis. In recent years, some studies have applied tungsten trioxide to electrochemical energy storage. Studies have shown that tungsten trioxide and graphene aerogel composites can exhibit excellent capacitance performance.

Polypyrrole has high conductivity and biocompatibility, friendly environment and good stability. Graphene is a two-dimensional crystal which is separated from graphite and consists of carbon atoms with only one layer of atomic thickness. Graphene is not only the thinnest material, but also the most tough material. At the same time, it has good elasticity.

Attapulgite, also known as palygorskite or palygorskite, is a water-bearing magnesium-rich silicate clay mineral with chain-layered structure. Attapulgite is hairy or fibrous in shape, usually a blanket-like or soil-like aggregate. The materials prepared by this method have good morphology and structure.

In summary, tungsten trioxide-polypyrrole-graphene composites have been synthesized by a step-by-step method using attapulgite as a model. The process is as follows:

(1)4g attapulgite was dispersed in 20 mL ethanol dissolved with 2 g phosphotungstic acid by ultrasonic wave, dried completely at room temperature and then burned at 350 for 4 h in air. The samples were dispersed in 20 mL ethanol dissolved with 1 g phosphotungstic acid twice, and then dried completely at room temperature and then burned twice at 0 for 4 h in air.

(2)Attapulgite/tungsten trioxide prepared in 1g step (1) was ultrasonic dispersed in 50 mL 20% ethanol solution, 0.1g pyrrole monomer was added, then 50 mL 20% ethanol was quickly added, followed by 3G ferric chloride solution, stirring at room temperature, and the product was centrifuged, washed and freeze-dried.

(3)Attapulgite-tungsten trioxide-polypyrrole prepared in step 1 (2) was ultrasonic dispersed in graphene oxide dispersion solution of 50 mL 1 mg mL-1, 4.5 ml concentrated hydrochloric acid was added, 400 mg zinc powder was added for 30 minutes, followed by 5 ml concentrated hydrochloric acid to remove excess zinc powder. Finally, the product was centrifuged, washed and freeze-dried.

(4)The tungsten trioxide-polypyrrole-graphene composites prepared in step (3) were dispersed in 40% hydrofluoric acid, stirred for 48 hours, and the products were centrifuged, washed and freeze-dried.

Tungsten trioxide-polypyrrole-graphene composites based on Attapulgite have great potential in electrochemical energy storage.
