Recovering Process of the Slag in APT Production

Tungsten and molybdenum are important non-ferrous metals. They are mainly used in alloy metallurgy, but also widely used in other fields such as chemical industry. As the price of tungsten and molybdenum products has increased in recent years, Recovering APT, tungsten and molybdenum from the slag in the production of ammonium paratungstate (APT) can create better economic benefits for enterprises.

recovering process of the slag in APT production picture

Targeting the tungsten-molybdenum-containing slag in the production process of APT, some scholars have proposed a recovering process for the slag in the production of APT, which has high recovery rate, economic benefits, environmental protection significance, and is industrially feasible. A process for extracting and separating tungsten and molybdenum from tungsten molybdenum slag, the main processes of which are as follows:

Weigh 500g of APT slag containing WO3 71.36% and Mo 3.26%. Then add 2000ml of 15% recycled ammonia water, and add steam to the titanium pot to maintain the pressure at 0.2mPa. The reaction is carried out for 15 minutes at 90°C. Then, the slag is filtered, dried, and filtrated. It is then subjected to a sulfurization molybdenum removal process and an evaporation crystallization process to obtain a qualified APT product and a new slag. The slag weight was 102g, and the tungsten and molybdenum grades in the slag were analyzed, which were WO3 2.47%, Mo9.37%.WO3 leaching rate is 99.3%, and molybdenum enrichment rate increased by 2.9 times.

The process has the following advantages:

1. The processing cost of the ball milling and ion exchange process is reduced, and the effective control of the tungsten content in the slag is reduced, and the labor intensity of the worker is reduced.

2. Exempt the impurity element from damage to the resin in the ion exchange process. The effective recovery rate of tungsten is above 96%. After re-vulcanization, the molybdenum content in the molybdenum residue is doubled, and the rational utilization of resources is realized.
