Structural Characteristics of Tungsten Carbide Dies

Mould made by tungsten carbide with high hardness, high strength, high wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and small expansion coefficient is called tungsten carbide die.
Tungsten cobalt materials are usually for punch and die. The structure of tungsten carbide dies is basically the same as that of steel dies, which can be made into single working die and be made into compound die and progressive die. However, because of the brittleness of the tungsten carbide material, it is best not to make the tungsten carbide blade single side force when blanking. The mold structure used in mass production is mostly continuous die structure.
Compared with ordinary steel dies, tungsten carbide dies have several structural features.
1, Mold crank tungsten carbide die is mostly floating die handle structures, to avoid the impact of press accuracy on stamping process during stamping.
2, Die carrier of tungsten carbide die should have enough rigidity. The template should be thicker than the general steel mold template 5-l0mm, which is usually made by 45 steel. HRC38-4203, guide mechanism of guiding mechanism must be stable and reliable, high precision, which generally adopt ball guide die frame and four guide column structure.
3, In order to prevent the tungsten carbide from cracking during stamping, the hardened backing plate should be installed in both the concave die and the punch. (material available T7)
4, The unloading and ejection device of the unloading and ejecting device should adopt the fixed unloading structure as far as possible, so as to prevent the impact on the concave die when stamping. When the elastic unloading plate is used, the small guide pillar should be added to guide the unloading plate.
5, The gap between punch and die is larger than that of steel mold, generally 0.15 times of material thickness or 1.5 times of normal die clearance.
6, Guide plate, locating pin and the guide pin must be hardened by heat treatment.
7, The die insert structure should be ensured to be relatively stable after being combined with the fixed plate.
Although tungsten carbide starts late in China, it develops rapidly. At present, tungsten carbide dies are basically serialized and standardized. From the development of recent years, the theory of research and design of tungsten carbide dies in China has been deeper, more scientific and more widely applied.
