Bismuth tungstate is a kind of mixed metal oxide, which has a series of advantages, such as absorbable visible light, low cost and good stability. However, the photocatalytic activity of bismuth tungstate is low because of high photoelectron and hole recombination rate in bismuth tungstate crystal. By modifying the structure of bismuth tungstate, reducing the recombination of photo generated electrons and holes, it is of great significance to improve its oxygen production efficiency by photolysis of water. Some scholars have proposed a preparation method of bismuth tungstate mesoporous single crystal, which aims to improve the degradation of pollutant activity by constructing porous single crystal structure.

The preparation process of bismuth tungstate mono pore single crystal consists of the following steps: mixing Molby 2:1's bismuth nitrate and sodium tungstate into a 2M nitrate solution to obtain the acidified bismuth tungstate precursor, and impregnating silica nanospheres into the acidified bismuth tungstate precursor solution for 4 hours to obtain the acidified silica nanospheres. In the acid solution containing the amorphous bismuth tungstate, the acidified silica nanospheres template was heated at 240°C for 18 hours, and the bismuth tungstate single crystal containing silicon dioxide nanospheres was obtained. Finally, the bismuth tungstate single crystal containing silica nanospheres template was etched by 0.5M NaOH aqueous solution, and the mesoporous tungstate bismuth crystal was obtained.
