Tungsten Trioxide Film Remaining Problems

Tungsten oxide thin film electrochromic materials research for nearly 50 years. Tungsten trioxide thin film is the most excellent performance of inorganic electrochromic materials, and has begun to commercialize. However, the high preparation cost and long response time of the commercial tungsten trioxide film still restrict its practical application.
The current basic research work mainly low-cost solution preparation of tungsten trioxide electrochromic film based, but there are several important issues:
1.At present, a great deal of research has focused on the hydrothermal synthesis of various tungsten trioxide electrochromic films with nanostructures. The hydrothermal tungsten trioxide film process is complicated, tedious steps. Hydrothermal reactions often require high temperature and long reaction time, the surface of the conductive substrate coated seed layer higher requirements. In addition, high temperature and high-pressure preparation conditions limit the choice of conductive substrate.
2.Electrodeposition provides a solution to the rapid fabrication of tungsten trioxide electrochromic films, as well as the deposition of different tungsten trioxide substrates. However, the electrodeposited tungsten trioxide electrochromic films tend to be relatively dense, which is not conducive to the diffusion of ions.
3.Spray coating method for the preparation of large-scale high-cycle stability of the tungsten trioxide electrochromic film provides the possibility of low-cost solution. However, the present study mainly uses the spray pyrolysis method to prepare the tungsten trioxide bulk film, which is unfavorable to the ion transport, therefore, the reaction response time is longer.
