China's Tungsten Products Imports in May 2025

According to data compiled by Chinatungsten Online from the General Administration of Customs, in May 2025, China's imports of tungsten products (excluding cemented carbide tools and tungsten halogen lamps) reached 1,409.50 tons, marking a year-on-year increase of 41.43% compared to May 2024 and a month-on-month increase of 27.94% compared to April 2025. The import value was RMB 156 million, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 8.10% but a month-on-month decrease of 5.39%.

Among the tungsten products imported in May 2025, the following quantities and changes were recorded:

Tungsten ores & concentrates: 1,373.35 tons, a year-on-year increase of 87.37%, and a month-on-month increase of 56.63%;

Tungsten trioxides: 240 kilograms, a year-on-year decrease of 97.52%, but a month-on-month increase of 1100.00%;

Other tungsten oxides & hydroxides, nes: 2 kilograms, unchanged year-on-year, with a month-on-month increase of 100%;

Tungsten hexafluoride: 20.59 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 35.45%, and a month-on-month decrease of 65.90%;

Sodium tungstate: 6,325 kilograms, a year-on-year decrease of 97.01%, and a month-on-month decrease of 95.62%;

Carbides of tungsten: 985 kilograms, a year-on-year decrease of 86.07%, and a month-on-month decrease of 93.24%;

Tungsten powders: 3,079 kilograms, a year-on-year increase of 430.86%, and a month-on-month increase of 121.35%;

Unwrought tungsten, including bars & rods obtained simply by sintering: 1 kilogram, a year-on-year decrease of 75.00%, and a month-on-month decrease of 99.89%;

Tungsten wire: 479 kilograms, a year-on-year increase of 10.88%, and a month-on-month increase of 0.42%;

Bars & rods, exclude those obtained simply by sintering; profiles, plates, etc.: 237 kilograms, a year-on-year decrease of 70.38%, and a month-on-month decrease of 52.51%.

In addition, China imported the following cemented carbide tools in May 2025:

Knives and cutting blades, for machines or for mechanical appliances, of metal carbides, coated or plated: 60.32 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.07%, and a month-on-month decrease of 5.80%;

Other knives and cutting blades, for machines or for mechanical appliances, of metal carbides: 32.12 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 32.30%, and a month-on-month decrease of 41.92%.
