Despite newly produced ferro-tungsten being packed and ready for shipment out of Vietnam and destined for Europe later this month,Europe expects the tightness in availability out of Rotterdam to last through until JuneJuly.

European ammonium paratungstate (APT) market participants revealed that China export prices edged up USD5-10mtu last week with mainstream offers between USD355-365mtu CIF Rotterdam.

As a result, movement in the European spot market was non-existent as stockholders refused to budge on their current offers of between USD340-350mtu in warehouse Rotterdam, whilst buyers from the tungsten carbide and tungsten powder industries shunned these prices claiming that downstream tungsten product prices have shown little improvement in recent months.
