Storage of Tungsten Wire for Glass Heating

The storage of tungsten wire for glass heating requires special attention to its physical and chemical properties to ensure that its performance is not damaged and its service life is extended.

1. Storage in a Dry Environment

Tungsten wire is sensitive to moisture and humidity. Long-term exposure to a humid environment may cause oxidation, affecting its conductivity and high temperature resistance. Therefore, a dry, well-ventilated environment should be selected for storage to avoid high temperature and high humidity. It is recommended to store tungsten wire in a sealed plastic bag or vacuum container, and add a desiccant (such as silica gel or molecular sieve) to absorb residual moisture. The relative humidity of the storage environment should be controlled below 50%, and the temperature should be kept between 15-25℃.

2. Avoid Contact with Chemicals

Tungsten wire is easy to react with chemicals such as acids and alkalis, resulting in surface corrosion or performance degradation. It should be stored away from chemical reagents, corrosive gases or volatile substances. It is recommended to use inert materials (such as polyethylene or glass containers) for packaging to avoid direct contact with metal or other substances that may cause reactions.

3. Prevent Physical Damage

Tungsten wire is brittle and can be easily bent or broken by external forces. It should be handled with care during storage to avoid squeezing or collision. The tungsten wire can be wound on a special reel or placed flat in a container lined with soft materials (such as foam or dust-free cloth) to ensure that its shape is not damaged. For small tungsten wires, it is recommended to use anti-static packaging to prevent static electricity from absorbing dust or impurities.

4. Anti-Oxidation Treatment

Although tungsten wire is not easy to oxidize at room temperature, it may form a trace oxide layer when exposed to air for a long time, which affects its performance in high-temperature glass heating. When storing, it can be placed in a vacuum package or a sealed bag filled with nitrogen to reduce contact with oxygen. If long-term storage is required, the sealing of the package can be checked regularly to ensure that no air infiltration.

5. Classification and Labeling

For ease of management and use, tungsten wires of different specifications and uses should be classified during storage, and their diameter, length, production batch and other information should be clearly marked. Avoid mixing different types of tungsten wires to avoid equipment damage or reduced efficiency due to parameter mismatch during glass heating.

6. Regular Inspection and Maintenance

Tungsten wires stored for a long time should be regularly inspected for signs of oxidation, discoloration or physical damage on their surface. If problems are found, the packaging should be replaced or the damaged part should be handled in time to ensure reliability during use.
