Tieshanlong Tungsten Mine History(I)

Tieshanlong tungsten mine locates in Yudu county of Jiangxi province. It is a centennial tungsten mine with glory of revolution history. The explored tungsten reservation is 750 thousand tons.

Exploration of Tieshanlong tungsten mine starts from 1908. Since churchman Wuliheng from Germany discovered tungsten ore in Xihuashan, there has been a fever in tungsten mine exploration, so was Tieshanlong. Since it started exploration, tungsten ore was sold in low price, as cheap as cabbage.

The red history in Tieshanlong is often discussed by people. In the early 1929, Mao Zedong and Zhude led Red Army from Jingangshan to Gannan and established central soviet area. At the same time, Jiang Jieshi from Kuo Min Tang started armed siege and economic block in soviet area.

To break through enemy’s block and solve problems of revolution fund, in winter of 1930, red army was stationed in Tieshanlong and participates in exploration of tungsten ore. They also motivated villagers to help exploration. Total numbers of people involved reaches more than 1000.

In spring of 1932, Tieshanlong found Chinese Tungsten Ore Company. Mao Zemin, Mao Zedong’s brother, took up the occupy of manager. He was the chairman of soviet people’s bank at that time. Mao Zemin carried temporal central government’s economic policy vigorously, motivated people and united businessman, developed boarder trade with Chen Jitang troops from Kuo Min Tang warlord. From 1931 to 1934, total output of Tieshanlong tungsten ore was 4193, financial income is 430 silver dollar. It offered financial support with other tungsten mines like Xihuashan to soviet area, broke through economic block by Jiang Jieshi. Chinese revolutionary as a single spark can make a great fire was largely contributed by Tieshanlong tungsten mine.

In August, 1934, the fifth anti siege failed, red army was forced to start long march. Chinese Tungsten Ore Company was ended. Most exploration worker realized that only CPC can save China, they followed with red army to long march.

Most of workers became pillar of Chinese revolutionary. Some heroes became general and was respected by people. However, some of them also sacrificed on the road. They died for revolutionary and was remembered forever.
