Recently, the official website of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Natural Resources reported that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the state assigned Shaanxi 11 mineral exploration targets, adding a total of 91,100 tons of tungsten, 422,700 tons of molybdenum, 133.12 tons of gold, 50,700 tons of copper, 24,000 tons of antimony, 30,800 tons of lithium, 7.782 million tons of graphite, 4.1089 million tons of manganese, 207,900 tons of vanadium, 1.314 million tons of fluorite, and 2,289 tons of cobalt. Additionally, 688,000 tons of rutile, 4,211 tons of rare earths, 8 million tons of phosphorus, and 230,000 tons of lead-zinc were added. The preliminary estimated potential economic value is 300 billion yuan. This achievement is attributed to Shaanxi's implementation of 380 mineral exploration projects, which newly delineated 122 exploration target areas and formed 35 large and medium-sized mineral deposits, exceeding the national target tasks.
Among these newly added resources, tungsten, molybdenum, and rare earths hold prominent positions as key minerals. Shaanxi's tungsten resources are primarily concentrated in the western Zhen'an mining district of the South Qinling region, located in the northern part of the South Qinling tectonic belt, covering the western area of Zhen'an County in Shangluo City, closely associated with intermediate-acid magmatic activity. This region has identified several large tungsten deposits, such as the Dongyang tungsten mine and Qipangou tungsten mine, with substantial resource reserves.
Shaanxi's molybdenum resources are mainly distributed in the Qinling metallogenic belt, predominantly as porphyry-type deposits, with representative mining areas including the Jinduicheng molybdenum mine and the Panhe molybdenum polymetallic deposit. The Jinduicheng molybdenum mine, a super-large porphyry-type molybdenum deposit in China, is located on the southern margin of the North China Platform within the Taihua block, with proven molybdenum metal reserves of approximately 970,000 tons. Its formation is closely related to Yanshanian granitic porphyry, with the ore bodies primarily hosted in biotite hornfels within the pluton and its outer contact zones. The Panhe molybdenum polymetallic deposit has large-scale reserves and is accompanied by scheelite, with tungsten trioxide reserves reaching medium-scale levels, offering high comprehensive utilization value.
Shaanxi's rare earth resources are mainly distributed in Luonan County and Xixiang County, predominantly heavy rare earths, with relatively limited reserves. Among these, a carbonatite vein-type heavy rare earth deposit has been discovered in the Houping area of Luonan County, located in the interior of the Qinling Mountains.
