Rare earth market update on May 22, 2025
Rare earth price center continued to decline, with terbium oxide, holmium oxide, and dysprosium oxide prices decreasing by approximately 130 yuan per kilogram, 6,000 yuan per ton, and 10,000 yuan per ton, respectively.
Following the recent continuous drop in rare earth raw material prices, the prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials and their scrap have also declined. For example, the price of 55N neodymium iron boron blank squares fell by about 1 yuan per kilogram.
CTIA GROUP LTD believes that the recent decline in rare earth prices represents a normal market adjustment, primarily due to large cumulative price increases in the early stage, lagging downstream demand transmission, and relatively abundant spot supply of some rare earth products. According to statistics from CTIA GROUP LTD, in the first ten days of May, terbium oxide prices increased by approximately 7.23%, praseodymium oxide increased by about 3.93%, neodymium oxide increased by about 3.53%, dysprosium oxide increased by about 3.11%, dysprosium ferroalloy increased by about 2.53%, praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by about 6.10%, and praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by about 6.77%.
