China Rare Earth Price - December 24, 2021

China rare earth price was mixed in the week ended on Friday, December 24, 2021. At the beginning of the week, the prices of neodymium, praseodymium, terbium and dysprosium products fell slightly as downstream users were not willing to purchase at high prices. 

However, due to the news of the establishment of China Rare Earth Group near the weekend, the prices of some products increased. Currently, the prices of neodymium praseodymium oxide and metal praseodymium are around 845,000 yuan/ton and 1020,000 yuan/ton, respectively, and the prices of dysprosium oxide and terbium oxide are around 2,900,000 yuan/ton and 11,200 yuan/kg, respectively.

From the perspective of favorable factors, first, the supply of rare earth raw materials is difficult to increase due to the tightening of environmental protection policies, the advent of the cold wave and the rebound of the epidemic in some provinces, which is conducive to supplier quotations; second, in the context of global "dual carbon", the promising development prospects of new energy vehicles, wind power generation, inverter air conditioners, consumer electronics and other fields are conducive to the increase in demand for rare earth functional materials.

From the perspective of negative factors, first, some consumers postpone their purchase plans under the increasingly strong Christmas and New Year’s Day atmosphere, which has led to slow order growth; second, as the end of the year approaches, in order to avoid the risk of upside down, downstream users basically maintain rigidity need.
