Nano Cesium Tungsten Bronze Applied for Sun Room Thermal Insulating Film

Nano cesium tungsten bronze, or nano CsxWO3, is the optimal raw material for preparing sun room thermal insulating film that has superior performance over commercial ITO glass. The experts compared the transmittance and reflectance of CsxWO3 nanorods with those commercial ITO glasses. And it is found that the CsxWO3 synthesized from the water molecular controlled-release solvothermal process (WCRSP process) has superior performance over commercial ITO glass due to its stronger absorption properties both in NIR region and UV region.

For the nano cesium tungsten bronze synthesized by WCRSP process, the reflectance of light was very limited, and hence the IR shielding property of the sun room thermal insulating film was caused by the absorption. In contrast, the reflectance of ITO glasses revealed that the NIR shielding property of ITO glasses mostly caused by the reflectance, instead of absorption of light. Because of strong absorption of NIR light, CsxWO3 nanorods exhibit excellent and instantaneous conversion of photo-energy to heat after NIR light irradiation. Based on the this results, it might be suggested that mixed valence state tungsten based nanomaterials with free electrons and excellent NIR light responsive could be utilized for novel biomaterial applications such as photothermal ablation therapy (PTA).
