Mo-doping Tungsten Oxide Film

Mo-doping tungsten oxide film can be prepared by doping molybdenum oxide (MoO3) into a tungsten oxide film. The tungsten oxide film with different MoO3 doping ratio can be prepared by electron beam evaporation method. Among them, the doping of Mo element has a certain influence on the electrochromic properties of WO3 film.

During the coloring process, H+ ions and electrons were injected into the WO3 lattice structure, and a cathode reduction reaction occurred in it: W6+→W5+, resulting in a blue tungsten bronze structure. In contrast, during the color fading process, H+ ions and electrons are extracted from the tungsten bronze structure, and anodic oxidation occurs: W5+→W6+. In addition, the amount of exchange charge is reduced with the increase of Mo content. This is because the increase in the amount of Mo increases the internal defects of the tungsten oxide film, and the defect replaces the external charge to participate in the exchange. It is the in-band transition that causes the absorption peak of the doped tungsten oxide to drift toward the high energy side - this is because the energy of the in-band transition between W and Mo is higher than the transition energy between W5+ and W6+ and Mo5+ and Mo6+.
