Nanostructured tungsten trioxide can be prepared by a sputtering method, a hydrothermal method, a sol-gel method, a thermal evaporation method, a chemical vapor deposition method, an anodization method, or a template method.

Experts said that the hydrothermal method in these methods is simple. There are rich raw materials. The reaction temperature is low. The product crystallinity is high. And some special structure materials can be synthesized. So, such method is suitable for large-scale production, which has been extensively studied. Some experts first used hydrothermal method to prepare nano-tree WO3 film on tungsten sheet. Some experts also used solvothermal method to prepare WO3 nano-sheet array film on FTO substrate prepared with W03 seed layer for the first time. Some experts also studied the effects of reaction conditions and additives on the morphology of the tungsten oxide film prepared by solvothermal method. In addition, some experts used hydrothermal method to prepare hexagonal phase WO3 nanorod array film directly on the substrate. And it was found that the pH value of the solution has an important influence on the morphology and arrangement of the film. Some experts also developed a vertical nanosheet array film on an FTO substrate without a seed layer by hydrothermal method, and studied the effects of different additives, reaction time and reaction temperature on morphology and photoelectric properties of the film.
