Supply of Tungsten Concentrates May to Be Tighter

Analysis of latest tungsten market in China from Chinatungsten Online: The supply of tungsten concentrates is becoming more and more tense, and its outflow is rarely seen in the main production and trade markets in the near future. 

The main production areas in the north have been phased out. A large central enterprise purchased scheelite concentrate in large quantities, with price of $16,589/t, and a small number of transactions in spot market also kept strong prices, according to the news yesterday.

The relationship between supply and demand remains tense while the demand is still weak. With the negotiable stocks in the tungsten concentrate market reducing to a low level, more market trading funds and different views among market parties, market price becomes easy to change and fragile. After the rise in price at the beginning of November, due to conservative quotation of large tungsten enterprises and a large outflow of trade funds, the supply of tungsten concentrate increases, and then tungsten price rises.

In yesterday's spot market, scheelite concentrate was traded in a small amount, with a price of $16,202/t, converting $16,899/t wolframite concentrate. In the case of limited tungsten concentrate, the price is relatively strong, although most of the demand enterprises have not actively raised the price for the time being.
