Forbes of Kingennie, Tayside
The weather has been changeable again but settled down for the weekend and it has fished well as a result. The water is reasonable clear in all the ponds and that has certainly helped. The Boathouse pool is still fishing really well with most of the fish coming to either dry flies or lures such as Yellow Dancers and Hothead Damsels. The biggest fish from the pond at 10lb 12oz was caught by C. Walker on a black lure. Other notable catches were the Deed Ferret group with 12 fishes for 46lb with the largest a 9lb 8oz rainbow. The Fishing Inc group took 12 fish for 41lb with the largest at 6lb.
The Burnside pool has been very changeable and the fish have been moving around a lot, one minute they are on the surface taking dries the next they are 10 feet down wanting to chase lures so it has paid to be mobile and change tactics. Floating Fry has been taking a lot of fish as well as Sedges and Shipman’s. Top lures are Damsels, Orange Blobs and Black and Green Fritz. Mr McNeil had the biggest of the week from here with an 8 to 9lb blue trout (returned) taken on a Blob.
On the Bankside most fish are still sat in the first bay down to the dam wall. Again the Floating Fry has been the best fly. Other fry patterns doing well are Pearly Pheasant Tails, Mini Cats and Yellow Dancers. Mr Birse returned 23 in three visits on fry patterns and Mr. Forbes had the biggest fish on the complex this week with a 11lb 12oz rainbow taken on a Yellow Dancer.
There are a lot of fish being caught on the Woodside but it has been very noticeable when the fish are feeding and when they are not. Power bait is still the best bait fished fairly deep down but other baits are working as well. Over the weekend 58 anglers landed 91 fish for 152lb.
Swanswater Fishery, Stirlingshire
The fishing conditions continue to be pretty good for the time of year with water temperature sitting 12-13C and great water clarity. A lot of fish are showing on the surface but most are taking just under. The fishing was at its best when the breeze was coming out of the west with things a little harder when the wind moved round to the east. At the weekend anglers were seeing loads of fish cruising round, but tempting them out was a bit harder. Big fish are still being seen, and caught, with some cracking tigers still in the area around the burn mouth. Favorite patterns included Sedge, Hopper, Daddy Longlegs, Bibio, Snatcher, Kate McLaren, plus the usual lures and Buzzers. Most of the time the fish are looking to chase and anglers are getting a lot of sport with fish following the fly in and turning away at the last minute. The Fishery is now open from 8am to 9pm every day.
Sean McGill, from Airdrie, caught two fish for 9lb 8oz including a 7lb 4oz tiger; Nan Morrison, Stirling, three for 11lb 13oz including a 6lb 10oz rainbow; Alec Peachey, Hamilton, a 5lb tiger; Stewart Nicholson, Knightswood, five fish for 17lb 4oz; Danny Doherty, Denny, five for 14lb 12oz plus four caught and released; Allan Laing, Carluke, five for 14lb plus three caught and released; Robin Scott Penicuik, five for 14lb; Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, in three visits, 10 for 31lb 12oz plus four caught and released; Frank Barr, Falkirk, in two visits, nine for 25lb; Stephan and Paul Miller, Stirling, shared eight for 22lb; William Williams, Alloa, three for 10lb 8oz including a 4lb rainbow; Tam Morgan, Motherwell, three for 9lb plus eight caught and released; John Mooney, Queenzieburn, two for 8lb 12oz; Alan Smith, Cumbernauld, two for 6lb 8oz including a 4lb 4oz rainbow; Gary Smith, Alloa, two for 6lb 8oz; James Elliott, Stirling, two for 6lb 8oz; Malcolm McKay, Dunfermline, two for 6lb 8oz; and Martin Stewart, Glasgow, two for 6lb.
Tungsten fishing sinker is heavier, denser and smaller than traditional lead sinkers in the same weight class. Using tungsten fishing sinker can enhance the chance to catch more fishes.

Kiwi Star Parry Claims Coral Sydney Darts Masters Place

- Published on Thursday, 20 August 2015 17:51
New Zealand ace Parry had lost out in Monday's DPA Qualifier final to Cody Harris, with Weber suffering the same disappointment when he was edged out by Clinton Bridge in Tuesday's decider.
However, it was the three-time Oceanic Masters champion who emerged victorious when the pair did battle for the 16th place in this week's PDC World Series of Darts event at the Qantas Credit Union Arena.
Parry also overcame Kevin Luland, Don Whittington, Barry Jouannet and Rob Szabo for the loss of just two legs in his other knockout matches on Wednesday.
Weber - a qualifier in Sydney a year ago - was also in top form, whitewashing Stefan Cubrilovic and Jonathan Silcock and losing only one leg in his semi-final against Jonathan Silcock before being edged out in the final.
Parry's success means that he is competing in the Sydney Darts Masters for a third successive year, having caused a huge upset by defeating Michael van Gerwen in last year's first round.
Parry will this time be up against World Champion Gary Anderson, who is making his first appearance in the Sydney Darts Masters but has been a semi-finalist in all three PDC World Series of Darts events played so far in 2015.
The reason why tungsten darts become the most popular dart in professional game is that tungsten darts have high-density, durable characters.

Wales Troutmasters reports for week-ending

Here is Wales Troutmasters reports for week-ending:
The Association's boats have been in regular use during the week, with good returns being made. Keith Higgins landed 15 fish over two sessions, while Shaun Cotterell caught 11 fish from his two boat tickets. Ken Bowring took his usual limit, while Steve Mitchell's first boat session realised seven rainbows. Day ticket members Leigh Kirkwood and Bob Bradley each landed five fish, Ken Pascoe caught four and an evening session saw committee man Keri Jones land three trout to a goldhead pattern. Around the banks of the reservoir, the top pond continues to be challenging but permit holder Jeff Wilson added a good fish to his bottom pond total of eight fish over two sessions, with a green and white lure proving very effective. Fisheries treasurer Colin Jones continues to enjoy a good season, with a further 11 fish caught over three evenings, mainly from the boat bank. Dave Arlotte caught five rainbows with Ken Pascoe, Roger Martin and James Francis each catching four fish mainly on nymphs. Cardiff member Ivor Thomas landed six fish over two visits with a further three fish being caught by Association president Martin Williams. Permit holders Brian Langley, Dave Howells, Alan Rees, Bernard Stephens and Martin Rees all caught two rainbows, while day ticket holder, Gino Alonzi also landed a brace. Fish are again showing mainly between the bush and the boat moorings while Pipe Bay has seen a good head of fish around the water inlet. Most effective flies during the week have been CdC and Shuttlecock Buzzers. Subject to weather conditions and subsequent water temperatures, the Association plans further stockings around the August Bank Holiday period.
At the weekend the weather conditions made fishing quite challenging, with bright sunlight and a flat calm for most of the day. Nevertheless general treasurer Gwyn Davies took advantage of some rare cloud cover, plus a hatch of ants, to land five good rainbows from the Pear Tree/dam corner, using an ant imitation dry fly. This catch added to Gwyn's earlier success on the top pond with two fish taken from the railings bank on weighted nymphs. Day visitor Mr W. Williams had good value for his £12 ticket with five trout to 2lb. An early morning session, fishing from the bush/Pipe Bay, by James Francis provided a brace of fish, with Adrian Connor also taking two fish to 2lb 8oz, from the boat steps on a Buzzer and a dry fly ant pattern, again from an early morning start.
Tungsten fishing sinker is a high-density and corrosion resisting sinker, it can drop down the deep water without disturbing fishes.

Smith Takes Co-Angler Title in Rayovac FLW Series
- Details
- Category: Tungsten's News
- Published on Wednesday, 19 August 2015 16:37
The first time was the best time for Jeffery Smith, as his debut tournament on Lake Dardanelle saw him posting a three-day total of 28 pounds, 15 ounces to notch his first Rayovac FLW Series victory.
“I’d never fished this lake until this week, so I researched in on the Internet,” he says. “I decided to bring all my stuff and treat it like a big farm pond.”
Paired with Alabama pro Barry Wilson (fourth place) in the final round of the Central Division event, Smith fished jetties and 45-degree chunk rock banks. He caught one of his keepers on a Texas-rigged green pumpkin Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver and the others on a shaky head with a Junebug Zoom paddle tail finesse worm.
A staff sergeant stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Mo., the Iraq war veteran says his 14 1/2 years of military experience has taught him the value of poise — a trait that served him well on Dardanelle.
“More than anything, it has taught me how to keep my composure,” Smith says. “Like yesterday, I only weighed one fish for 1-11 and I dropped from second to sixth.
“It was tough on me. I had to go back (to my room) and do my own thing away from everybody and regroup. Definitely, staying in good (mental) shape here goes a long, long way.”
Tungsten fishing sinker is suitable for fishing match, for the reason that tungsten sinker is high-density and harmless to environment. Besides, there are a wide variety and styles of tungsten fishing weights available to anglers that are specifically suited to their individual needs.

- Published on Wednesday, 19 August 2015 16:10
Phil Taylor will open his bid to win a third successive Coral Sydney Darts Masters title against DPA Qualifier Tic Bridge on Thursday, while Adrian Lewis takes on Simon Whitlock in a heavyweight clash at the Qantas Credit Union Arena.
Reigning champion Taylor has never been defeated in Australia since the PDC introduced the World Series of Darts in 2013, winning back-to-back titles in Sydney and retaining his Perth Darts Masters crown last weekend.
The 16-time World Champion's first round clash at the Qantas Credit Union in Sydney's Darling Harbour will see him come up against Melbourne's Bridge.
The 31-year-old left-hander won through Tuesday's DPA Qualifier - defeating John Weber, a qualifier in 2014, 6-2 in the final - to secure his place in the Sydney Darts Masters for a second time, having caused a sensation by knocking out Raymond van Barneveld 6-5 two years ago.
Van Barneveld will also face a DPA Qualifier in the first round after drawing New Zealand's Cody Harris, who secured his televised debut when he came through Monday's knockouts in Warilla.
Wednesday's final DPA Qualifier will face reigning World Champion and Premier League champion Gary Anderson, who has been a semi-finalist in all three PDC World Series of Darts events so far this year but is making his debut in Sydney.
World number one Michael van Gerwen has drawn Australian World Cup ace Paul Nicholson, while two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis takes on the sport's most successful Australian, Simon Whitlock, in a high-profile contest.
Perth Darts Masters runner-up James Wade plays DPNZ Qualifier Craig Caldwell, while Japan Darts Masters finalist Peter Wright has drawn current DPA Australian Grand Prix number one Loz Ryder and Stephen Bunting, last year's runner-up in Sydney, drew David Platt.
Tungsten dart is popular among professional players, for tungsten dart is a high-density darts and durable.

The Crafty Chubber
- Details
- Category: Tungsten's News
- Published on Tuesday, 18 August 2015 17:21
Tackling a stretch near Bedford, the Verulum AC fisheries officer had already banked two chub before the big ‘un picked up his mini boilie hookbait.
Steve explained: “I arrived at the river around 4.30pm and spotted six chub, two of which looked very big and one that looked huge!
“The water was gin clear and I knew that if I cast in a bait they would spook so I watched them for half-an-hour, then threw in some freebies and decided to return after dark.
“I cast in at 10pm and the rod went round instantly with a fish of 4 lb 4 oz, which I returned further upstream, and then had another of 5 lb 6 oz and did the same thing.
“I then had nothing for 45 minutes when the rod slammed round and the ‘snag’ that I was attached to started to move!
“The fight was incredible and four times the fish came close to the net only to scream off again, and when she finally went in the net I couldn’t believe the size of her.
“I can only imagine what the fish will weigh if caught in the winter. I was anxious to get it back in the water so after weighing and one quick ‘selfie’ I nursed the fish until she swam off strongly.”

Big River Carp Loved “The Ooze”

- Published on Tuesday, 18 August 2015 17:18
Mark, who lives on a boat on the nearby Old West River, landed the big ‘un along with other commons of 26 lb, 21 lb and 18 lb, plus a 26 lb 14 oz mirror over a four-day period.
He revealed: “I’ve had carp to 49 lb from my syndicate water but have been after one like this from the river for years and it is my first common over 30 from there – my previous best from the Cam was a 33 lb 8 oz mirror.
“The spot I had it from is one I’ve fished for seven or eight years and have never had anything big, but I always trickle some bait in every time I go past.
“I always use doilies as all particles tend to do is make the bream move in and clear a big area in the weed and then the carp move off! I came up with this bait with Gary Bayes from Nash and I call it ‘The Ooze’!
“The spot is amongst some cabbages on the edge of some lilies – I like fishing where there is cover and as long as they’re not too thick you can get through to the bottom with a heavy lead. the fish move over this area to get to a shallow spot they like sitting in at the back of the pads.
“I had the big one close to the boat a few times and could see the size of it before I landed it and it made my knees shake a bit!
“I catch all my fish during daylight at this time of the year,” he added.
This is just a short version of the full story that appeared in the printed magazine. Get the magazine every week for top tips, big news, best products, and venues that are in form.
The most popular of all substitutes to make sinker is tungsten, which creates a product that is heavier, denser and smaller than traditional lead sinkers in the same weight class. Phil Taylor Beats James Wade to Claim Perth Darts Masters Title
- Details
- Category: Tungsten's News
- Published on Tuesday, 18 August 2015 16:26
After surrendering his eight-year unbeaten run at the World Matchplay to Wade last month, Taylor made amends in Perth as he ran out an 11-7 victor in the final having also beaten world champion Gary Anderson earlier in the evening.
‘The Power’ started strongly in the final as he swiftly moved into a 5-1 lead, before Wade hit back with the highest checkout of the match, expertly finishing 130.
After a mini-revival from Wade, Taylor responded with a ton-plus finish of his own as he checked out 123 for a 12-darter to move 8-4 ahead.
Taylor then extended his advantage to 10-7 before wrapping up the win in the following leg to add a fourth World Series title in Australia to his CV and maintain his brilliant unbeaten run Down Under ahead of next week's Coral Sydney Darts Masters.
"I'm over the moon to win here again, it's been a long day but I got there in the end," said Taylor.
"I love playing over here, it doesn't get any better and I'm going to enjoy it. It was a strange final but I managed to get the right 180 at the right time and that saw me through.
"I was disappointed to lose to James in Blackpool, I didn't play anywhere near my best, I gave him chances and he took them. It was good to put that right today.
"The guys will all be wary of me now heading into Sydney next week and I'm looking forward to it!"
Earlier in the evening, Taylor booked his place in the final after a 10-5 win over Anderson in a spectacular semi-final which saw both players average over 104 with 12 maximums.
Anderson started well and landed a superb 12-dart leg, checking out 121, to head into the first break with a 4-3 lead. 'The Power' would turn on the style after the break though as he took the final six legs of the match on the spin, including a 12-darter and two 13-dart legs, before finishing with an 80 checkout to book his place in the final.
Wade booked his place in a first World Series final after a dramatic 10-9 win over the world No 1 Michael van Gerwen.
After a scrappy start to the match, which saw the first five legs all go against the throw, Wade kicked on to take three straight legs and open up a 5-2 lead.
Wade's form would continue after the break as he landed an 11-darter, as well as a nerve-busting 122 checkout on the bullseye to move 9-7 ahead. Van Gerwen hit back again though, with an excellent checkout of his own as he finished 124 to force a decider, where Wade would hold his nerve to break the throw with a 13-dart leg.
The PDC World Series continues next week with the 2015 Coral Sydney Darts Masters at the Qantas Credit Union Arena between August 20-22.
Tungsten darts become the most popular darts among professional players, because tungsten darts are made of high-density metal, so they can be smaller than darts with other material. Besides, tungsten darts have delicate knurling, which make them worthy of being collected.
