Medical Shielding Material-Tungsten Alloy Shield and Lead Shield

The conventional material of medical shielding is lead, atomic number of lead is 82, lead has good energy absorption characteristics, and it is an ideal material for shielding high-energy ionizing radiation. Looking from the particle absorption characteristics, and the lead has good absorption capacity to ionizing radiation which energy is higher 88.0keV and between 13.0keV and 40keV, but  for energy between 40keV to 88.0keV, there is a weak absorption zone.

Tungsten alloy shield is a new shield, and in the case of the same thickness as the lead shield, the effect of tungsten alloy shielding effect is better. And tungsten alloy shield is environmentally friendly, harmless to humans and nature, but lead is toxic, and the source of pollution, so tungsten alloy shield gradually replace lead as the most popular shield.
