Opening this week, Chinese tungsten prices maintained stability on quiet trading activity. Molybdenum concentrate prices got supports from tight supply, but the market also faced risks when prices were at a relatively high level.

Chinese tungsten price continues its stability because the supply and demand sides are still in a stalemate and spot goods are consumed slowly. The market is caught in heavy wait-and-see atmosphere at the end of this month with rare transactions concluded.  

Rare earth market quotation in China: domestic rare earth price showed different trends due to stable listed prices of Southern Rare Earth and heavy wait-and-see atmosphere in the market. For praseodymium and neodymium products, downstream factories remained low buying appetite and market trading was thin; for dysprosium and terbium products, inquiry was active and sellers were reluctant to sell. On the whole, trading activity is not active and transactions are under pressure. 

China molybdenum prices started to stabilize after a period of rise. Steel mills slowed down the pace in tenders, which made ferro molybdenum manufacturers come back to rationality. The tightening availability of raw materials supported molybdenum concentrate sellers’ rised mentality, but continued weakness in the demand side weakened market confidence. In the short term, market participants would wait for the next move in steel biddings and environmental protection policy.
