Setting up your Dartboard

Once you have bought your dartboard (or dragged it out of its hiding place/your attic), you need to set it up to get the most use and practice out of it. Here are some tips that will help you create the perfect setting.
Choose an area which isn't a walkway or a doorway, you don't want any accidents and more importantly, any interruptions to your game!
Look at your flooring… you can stop now… will it get damaged or worn easily. You may like to invest in a Dart Mat, which can protect your flooring as well as your bank balance (new flooring can be expensive!). This will protect your floor and will also mark the correct distance you should be standing at.
Try to have as much light as possible and avoid as much shadow on your dartboard as possible.
Protect your walls with a Dartboard Cabinet or Dartboard Surround.
Consider an Electronic scorer, which will keep your scores.
Some comfy seats would be great for your audience and other players.
A table for your darts manuals, books and other accessories but more importantly drinks!

Adrian Lewis Biography

The two-time World Darts Champion, Adrian took that title in both 2011 and 2012 to secure his place amongst the darting elite.
The Stoke ace initially broke through in 2004, having enjoyed success in the British Teenage Open before qualifying for the UK Open and Las Vegas Desert Classic that summer.
He claimed his first ranking title at the Chris De Roo Open in Holland, defeating Colin Lloyd in the final, and also reached the quarter-finals of the Bobby Bourn Memorial
Players Championship as he began to make his mark on the circuit.
Lewis also won a place in the 2004 World Grand Prix, reaching the second round, and continued his progress the following year by reaching the last 16 of the UK Open in Bolton
and the quarter-finals of the World Matchplay on his Blackpool debut.
He was also a quarter-finalist in his World Championship debut at the end of 2005, eventually losing out to Peter Manley in their controversial last eight clash at the Circus
Tavern.
Lewis had also created history in November of that year by winning both PDC ProTour events in one weekend as he claimed the Players Championship and UK Open Regional Final
titles in Irvine, Scotland - a feat even his practice partner Phil Taylor had not achieved at the time.
He confirmed his place amongst the world's top players in 2006, with his run to the final of the World Series of Darts event in Connecticut seeing him impress with wins over the
likes of Dennis Priestley, before he was defeated by Taylor.
The youngster also appeared in the UK Open, Las Vegas Desert Classic, World Matchplay and World Grand Prix before claiming another Players Championship win in Irvine and reached
the last 16 of the 2007 World Championship.
Lewis then made his Premier League Darts debut in 2007, and also reached the semi-finals of the International Darts League and World Matchplay and quarter-finals at the Las
Vegas Desert Classic and World Grand Prix as his quest for major honours continued.

History of PDC

The Professional Darts Corporation was initially formed as the World Darts Council in January 1992, and is now the leading professional body in the sport with over £6 million in prize money being paid out on its global circuit of tournaments.
The WDC was formed after 16 top professional players, along with managers Dick Allix, Tommy Cox and John Markovic, decided to break away from the British Darts Organisation to take the sport to a new level.
The first WDC event, the UK Masters, took place in October 1992 and the first World Championship was played over the 1993-94 festive period, establishing the partnership with Sky Sports which remains to this day.
The World Matchplay event followed in the summer of 1994, and four years later the World Grand Prix was introduced to the calendar to give three major televised events.
In July 2001, the Board of Directors who had carried the PDC forward since its inception decided to step down in favour of a specialist team, headed by promoter Barry Hearn, who came in as Chairman.
The PDC has built up a reputation as the leading innovator in terms of staging professional darts tournaments and as such is constantly looking towards the future and improving the organisation in every area.
Five ranking tournaments are staged live on Sky Sports each year, broadcasting to a global audience of more than 300 million viewers, and 2005 saw the introduction of the Premier League Darts to great success.
The tournament has grown to become the UK & Ireland's biggest indoor sporting event, being played across 14 league nights around the country, before the top four then take part in the Play-Offs, and has expanded to be staged in arenas in front of crowds of up to 10,000 fans across a four-month period.
The PDC's commitment to spreading professional darts worldwide led to the Las Vegas Desert Classic being introduced to the calendar in 2002 and the arrival of the UK Open in 2003, which included a series of qualifying tournaments for professional players which now form part of the PDC ProTour.
The first professional tournament in China was staged in 2004, and the worldwide development has continued with the inclusion of more international qualifiers taking part in the
PDC World Championship - with countries such as Croatia, the Philippines, Japan, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia represented in the 2013 tournament.
2007 saw the PDC introduce the ground-breaking Grand Slam of Darts competition, which features 32 players who have reached the finals of major PDC and BDO tournaments competing in Wolverhampton.
The PDC also introduced the innovative internet-streamed Championship League Darts in 2008, while the PDC World Cup, a Pairs tournament featuring 24 countries, and Players Championship Finals events have also been added to the circuit of major televised events.
The PDC continues to go from strength to strength with its central aim to ensure the sport receives the recognition and respect professional darts deserves, with both the Qualifying School - where players can win Tour Cards to compete on the PDC circuit full-time - and the introduction of the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour and World Youth Championship guaranteeing a pathway to the top for aspiring stars.
The PDC also work with affiliated organisations for a number of region circuits worldwide, notably the DPA in Australia, SDC in Scandinavia, and in North America, where each region stages a series of ranking events each year which produces qualifiers for the World Championship.
The expansion of the PDC across Europe led to the introduction in 2012 of the European Tour series of events, which has expanded to eight tournaments in 2013 being held in the UK, Germany, Austria, Gibraltar and the Netherlands which give leading professionals and emerging talents from across the Continent the chance to compete at the top level.
2013 has also seen the introduction of the World Series of Darts events, which began with the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters and Sydney Darts Masters and see the world's top eight players spreading the professional game worldwide.
