Potassium cesium tungsten bronze particles may be prepared by mixing a suitable tungsten source with a salt of potassium and a salt of cesium to form a powder mixture and exposing the powder mixture to a plasma torch under a reducing atmosphere. Wherein, potassium cesium tungsten bronze particles have the formula KxCsyWOz. And the particles are nano scaled particles. There are organic or inorganic substrates. The substrates are plastics, coatings, inks, ceramics or glass. In a word, potassium cesium tungsten bronze is a very suitable NIR absorber and heat shielding additive for preparing heat insulation products such as heat insulating coating and thermal insulation film, to reduce energy consumption in buildings and automobiles.
