The 19th CPC Congress Report and China’s Tungsten Industry Environmental Protection Action

Chinatungsten Online experts predict that new mechanism and institution for ecological environmental protection and supervision are going to be set up decided by the 19th Communist Party of China National Congress. According to Xi Jinping’s statements in his report—to prompt the ecological civilization construction and leadership and team building, and to establish regulatory agencies to manage state-owned natural resource assets and monitor natural ecosystems.

A report published on 21st, October by CCTV Finance put forward that the government is going to set up and build four new agencies. According to this report, “regulatory agencies to manage state-owned natural resource assets and monitor natural ecosystems” will be established soon after the 19th Communist Party of China National Congress. In the ninth part of the report titled with “speeding up the reform of ecological civilization system to building a beautiful China”, General Secretary Xi has pointed out to prompt the ecological civilization construction and leadership and team building, and establish regulatory agencies to manage state-owned natural resource assets and monitor natural ecosystems. Furthermore, Improving the ecological environmental regulatory system, exercising all natural resources asset owners responsibilities uniformly, exercising control  on the usages of all national land and the ecological conservation and restoration duties, and exercising the supervision duty on urban and rural pollution and administrative execution. In addition, establish a national spatial development protection system, perfect the supporting policies of the main functional areas, and establish a system of nature reserve taking the national park as the main body. The government is determined to combat and punish the acts of destroying ecological environments.

Besides, the report also stresses that the ecological civilization construction accomplished now and will benefit our future generations. The government is supposed to establish socialist ecological civilization firmly to foster a new pattern, which has a harmonious relation between human beings and nature.

Tungsten price has gone through great surge in July and August, until September, the price declined slightly and is stable now. However, after the 19^th CPC Congress and according the report about building a beautiful China as well as the newly set up four departments, the environmental protection policy for tungsten will only get stricter than ever. Tungsten, from raw material production such as APT, sodium tungstate to tungsten metal products such as tungsten carbide, tungsten alloy, all have a great deal to do with environment. Tungsten residue, waste water and waste gas are urgently to be recycled and dealt with. Last week, we have the chance to visit one of the biggest tungsten metallurgy workshop in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province. It is obvious that environmental protection action is taken concretely. We get to know that the whole equipment for dealing with waste gas and water cost million dollars. Not even mention the cost of power if it is operated everyday. Overall, we believe after 19^th CPC, tungsten price will rise in the next period.
