"Golden Welder" Yang Li Challenges International Tungsten Inert Gas Welding

Yang Li won the third prize in the adult group of international tungsten inert gas welding (TIG welding), he has shown the talent and strength of employees in China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd to the world.

Tungsten inert gas welding, often referred to as TIG welding, is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. The weld area and electrode are protected from oxidation or other atmospheric contamination by an inert shielding gas (argon or helium), and a filler metal is normally used. When helium is used, this is known as heliarc welding. A constant-current welding power supply produces electrical energy, which is conducted across the arc through a column of highly ionized gas and metal vapors known as a plasma.

Yang Li is an ordinary people, while as a welder, can also achieve extraordinary things. This young man under 30 years old, although only owns a junior college degree, with his hard-working, he not only became the "technical expert of Huaneng Group", but also become the winner of the international welder "Arc Cup" award.

From army to join Huaneng group, he did every job at his best. The electric welder is a dirty, hot, tired, bitter and dangerous job, and ordinary young person is not willing to do it. But he said: "The company has a division of labor and is very glorious for whatever the job is. I am a veteran and a member of the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China. It doesn't matter if I am tired." It takes at least 5 years to train a qualified high-pressure welder, and he has developed a superb "welding work" in only two years, becoming a " Golden welder " in the welding field.

In the maintenance of the economizer of No. 4 furnace, due to the limitation of the spacing of the economizer pipe row, there is a visual blind zone, and the weld of some pipe rows cannot be properly welded. In the face of high difficulty, after repeated measurement and research, Yang Li decisively carried out "blind welding" with superb operational skills, and successfully "smashed" this "hard bone" which seems impossible to collapse. It was completed in only three days. Replacement welding of 30 problems economizer tubes and the pass qualifications of all welds are 100%.

Yang Li participated in the "Arc Cup" International Welding Competition with confidence. As a young welder with only 4 years of welding age, he is not afraid of strong competitors, showing the world the young people’s demeanor of Huaneng's staff, and finally obtained the third prize of the tungsten inert gas welding (141/GTAW) adult group individual items, won the honor for Huaneng group.

The achievement of Yang Li in the tungsten inert gas welding competition is the result of his hard-working and quest for excellence in his position. He interprets his mission and takes responsibility in action, and dances the bright life of stripling in the new era.
