China rare earth price remained weak in the week ended on Friday, July 22, 2022. In the light rare earth market, the overall bearish sentiment is strong. Under the influence of falling commodity prices, lower-than-expected demand in the European market, lower listed prices of rare earths in the north in July, and high supplier panic, the prices of mainstream products have dropped significantly. And the price of neodymium oxide decreased by about RMB 35,000/ton and RMB 45,000/ton respectively on a week-on-week basis. However, supported by production costs, the difficulty in increasing spot inventories in the future market and the optimistic development prospects of the new energy industry, there are still industry players who have certain expectations for the market outlook.

In the medium and heavy rare earth market, the overall operation is relatively stable. At the beginning of the week, due to the lack of downstream inquiries and the poor performance of the light rare earth market, suppliers made some concessions. However, near the weekend, the price of dysprosium and terbium stopped falling and stabilized, mainly because the production of heavy rare earth production enterprises is reduced and the import volume of raw materials is not much.

In terms of news: According to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Statistics Bureau, according to the unified accounting results of regional GDP, the regional GDP of Inner Mongolia in the first half of 2022 will be 1,046.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3% at constant prices. In terms of product output, the output of monocrystalline silicon increased by 25.6% year-on-year, rare earth magnetic materials increased by 34.6%, and wind turbines increased by 58.9%.
