China’s Domestic Rare Earth Price - Feb. 16, 2022

China’s domestic rare earth price is in the upward trend on the whole on Feb. 16, 2022. But affected by complex factors, the price game between buyers and sellers is fierce, so the order growth rate is moderate, and some industry players are worried about the future demand.

From the perspective of positive factors, first, since the Winter Olympics, environmental protection has been strengthened, which has largely restricted the production of rare earth mining companies, which in turn is conducive to suppliers' quotations; second, the low-carbon economy has accelerated the sales of new energy vehicles, which is the main source of power for the increase in the amount of rare earth permanent magnet materials. Third, after the Spring Festival, magnetic material companies and polishing powder companies have resumed work one after another, maintaining stable market demand.

From the perspective of negative factors, first, the first batch of rare earth mining indicators rose slightly year-on-year and the listed price of rare earth in the north fell slightly this month, which is not conducive to the market warming. Second, the price of rare earth is at a high level, which will largely inhibit downstream users’ consumption desire.

In terms of news: this week, the listed prices of Southern Rare earth shows that the listed price of samarium oxide is 27,500-28,000 yuan/ton, and the average price is raised by 10,000 yuan/ton; the listed price of gadolinium oxide is 660,000-670,000 yuan/ton, and the average price is raised by 117,500 yuan/ton; the listed price of terbium oxide is 15-15.3 million yuan /ton, the average price is increased by 1.5 million yuan/ton; the listed price of dysprosium oxide is 3.13-3.18 million yuan/ton, the average price is increased by 120,000 yuan/ton; the listed price of holmium oxide is 190 yuan/ton ~1.95 million yuan/ton, the average price was raised by 235,000 yuan/ton; the listed price of erbium oxide was 380,000 to 390,000 yuan/ton, and the average price was raised by 17,500 yuan/ton; the listed price of yttrium oxide was 90,000 to 92,000 yuan/ton, the average price was raised by 5,000 yuan/ton.
