The village of Stanley, N.B., is one step closer to getting a massive tungsten mine.

Vancouver-based Northcliff Resources submitted its environmental-impact assessment to the federal government. It wants to start an open-pit tungsten mine in Stanley. The tungsten mine could employ hundreds of residents.

Northcliff’s Greg Davidson said the company has done the ground work and the public has nothing to fear.

“I certainly identify the concerns we’ve heard over the past couple of years. We’ve implemented mitigation strategies to minimize any impacts,” he said.

Northcliff expects to create 500 jobs during the construction phase — that's more than the population of Stanley.

It anticipates 300 jobs during the 27-year operation.

Carbine Tungsten Limited is pleased to announce that long-term off-take partner, Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Japan (“Mitsubishi RtMJ”) has recently participated in a site visit to the Mt. Carbine Tungsten Project in North Queensland.

Representatives from Carbine’s Board and Senior Management team accompanied Mitsubishi RtMJ’s President, Mr Kenji TANI, to site in July.

The purpose of the visit was for Mitsubishi RtMJ to conduct further due diligence on the Project following the Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) between Carbine and Mitsubishi RtMJ signed in late February 2013.

The MOU outlined Mitsubishi RtMJ’s intention to provide up to $15,000,000 in project level funding to support the development plans for Carbine’s existing tungsten stockpiles and former hard rock open pit mine .

MIIT to revise entry conditions for copper, tungsten and antimony industry.

Raw Materials Department of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China MIIT released on July 31 a report on development of Chinese nonferrous metals industry in H1 of 2013.

According to the report, nonferrous metals industry was burdened with serious overcapacity, high productions.
