WS2 Films for Catalysis Application

Catalytic decomposition of different samples under ultraviolet light irradiation image

Due to its unique band gap properties, inherent vacancy defects, and low electrical conductivity, WS2 films can be used for catalysis. Catalysis including photocatalysis and electrocatalysis is essential in our daily life, and they have been widely used for environmental protection and clean energy generation.

Nucleation and Epitaxy of Bilayer Molybdenum Disulfide on Sapphire

Step-edge nucleation of bilayer MoS2 on c-plane sapphire image

A study conducted mainly by researchers at Nanjing University reports the uniform nucleation (>99%) of bilayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) on c-plane sapphire. Two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are of interest to researchers in the field of electronics. It is believed that the combination of good electrostatic control, smaller bandgap, and higher mobility than single-layer TMDs has the potential to improve the power-delay products of transistors. However, despite the progress made in the growth of single-layer TMDs, multilayer controlled epitaxial growth remains a challenge.

Tungsten-Based Bimetal Oxides as Dsscs Electrodes Using APT as Tungsten Source

Schematic of Tungsten-Based Bimetal Oxides as DSSCs eletrode

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have drawn wide attention because of their incomparable advantages including low cost, easy to manufacture, environmental-friendly and high theoretical photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE). However, traditional Pt CE materials are expensive, have a limited source, and are easily corroded by the I3−/I− electrolyte.

Tungsten Carbide Hollow Drill

tungsten carbide hollow drill picture

Tungsten carbide hollow drill, which is called annular cutter when it is used in metal, is a drill specifically designed to remove a cylinder of material, much like a hole saw. Tungsten carbide hollow drill bits are used for many applications, either where the core needs to be preserved, or where drilling can be done more rapidly since much less material needs to be removed than with a standard bit.

Tungsten Powder Preparation by One-step Reduction Method

tungsten powder preparation by one-step reduction method image

In order to prepare tungsten powder from ammonium paratungstate, tungsten oxide should be burned in a weak reduction atmosphere before hydrogen reduction is a common method in industry. The tungsten powder prepared by this process is mostly polycrystalline, which is the main material for preparing tungsten alloy and tungsten carbide.
