China’s Tungsten Product Imports from January to February 2025

According to data compiled by China Tungsten Online from the General Administration of Customs, from January to February 2025, China’s imports of tungsten products (excluding carbide cutting tools and tungsten halogen lamps, hereinafter the same) totaled 2,726.08 tons. This represents a year-on-year increase of 19.62% compared to January-February 2024. The import value amounted to RMB 343 million, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 10.63%.

Of this total, from January to February 2025, China imported 2,049.24 tons of tungsten ores and concentrates, marking a year-on-year increase of 30.39%. Tungstic acid imports were 10.75 tons, surging by 5,373 times year-on-year. Tungsten trioxide imports amounted to 4,894 kilograms, showing a year-on-year increase of 1.96%. Imports of other tungsten oxides and hydroxides, not elsewhere specified, reached 40.00 tons, increasing by 7,999 times year-on-year. Tungsten powder imports totaled 6,657 kilograms, up 28.96% year-on-year. Unwrought tungsten, including bars and rods obtained simply by sintering, amounted to 899 kilograms, with a year-on-year increase of 292.58%. Imports of tungsten bars, rods, profiles, plates, sheets, strips, and foils totaled 11.20 tons, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 74.54%. Tungsten hexafluoride imports were 75.29 tons, down 2.88% year-on-year. Sodium tungstate imports amounted to 514.70 tons, decreasing 9.36% year-on-year. Tungsten carbide imports totaled 14.02 tons, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 47.35%. Tungsten wire imports were 687 kilograms, down 36.62% year-on-year. Ammonium paratungstate imports amounted to 5 kilograms.

In addition, from January to February 2025, China imported 108.37 tons of coated or plated carbide knives and cutting blades for metalworking machinery, representing a year-on-year decrease of 6.08%. Imports of other carbide knives and cutting blades for metalworking machinery amounted to 68.79 tons, down 14.50% year-on-year.
