Tungsten Alloy Promotes Chinese Aero Engine Development

With the improvement of Chinese national defense science and technology strength, problems faced by Chinese aero engine will be alerted greatly. Let us recall Chinese aero engine development.

On Jun. 2, 1956, the State Acceptance Commission announced: a new aero-engine Turbojet engine series V has been developed, which is a centrifugal rotor with a single turbojet engine afterburner, equipped with J-5 aircraft.

Turbojet engine series VI is a single rotor axial flow turbojet engine with afterburner. In May 1966, it was named officially "Turbojet 6 engine." Through continuous improvement modifications, it is regarded as the first single-rotor axial flow with afterburner in China, closing to the level of second-generation machine.

Turbojet engine series VII is twin rotor axial flow turbojet engine with afterburner, which is the major power plant for Chinese Air Force in the last 1980s and 1990s. With the development and production improvements, this series laid a solid foundation for the development of Chinese aero engine industry.

Turbojet engine series VIII is made by the gas turbojet engine. It is approved for the forces by the Commission on March 29, 1967. Forty years of improvement, this type of engine has been updated considerably.

The production of Qinling aero engine is the introduced from Romania • Romanian company, UK with its patented dual-rotor inside and outside, becoming the power plant for Leopard series aircrafts.

Kunlun aero engine is a twin rotor axial flow turbojet engine with afterburner, which is a second-generation engine and first fully implemented to military standard, in strict accordance with specification model designed and developed with independent intellectual property rights.

"Taihang" aero engine (WS-10) F-10 is designed for supporting the use of power unit; also could be installed in the realization of the full localization of F-11 fighters. At present, this type of aero engine has been put into batch production, becoming the first Chinese fighter successfully installed the first three generations of domestic turbofan engine. Also it is the ideal power device of the third-generation fighter. It is said that tungsten alloy, titanium alloy with high density, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance properties would be widely used in the aero engine field to improve its performance, so there will be a giant lifting space.
