The invention discloses a method for preparing a 5N purity tungsten bar or tungsten wire.
The method includes the following steps that (1) tungsten powders with above 5N purity are filled in a soft mold to be subjected to isostatic cool pressing to obtain an isostatic cool pressing blank; and (2) the isostatic cool pressing blank obtained in the step (1) is subjected to bar or wire manufacturing to obtain the 5N purity tungsten bar or tungsten wire. The tungsten bar or tungsten wire prepared by the method has the advantages that the purity can reach to above 5N (99.999%), and the tungsten bar or tungsten wire can be used for producing an electrode of a long service life gas discharge lamp. The method is high in production efficiency, stable in product qualities and suitable for industrialized production.

According to the process, the comprehensive utilization rate of mineral resources is improved, the recovery rate of valuable metal tungsten is improved, and the process flows of reusing tungsten are shortened.

Producing Pure Tungsten Compound Using Tungsten-containing Material

The method uses tungsten containing material including scheelite concentrate, high-calcium wolframite and its tailings, tungsten slime and refractory low-grade tungsten ore as material in producing tungsten compound. It features the addition of certain amount of aluminium oxide or aluminium salt and phosphate or oxides of phosphorus, 4-5 times leaching of ammonium paratungstate crystal obtained after the evaporation and crystallization of ammonium tungstate solution with 2-4% ammonium nitrate or ammonium chloride solution, and the precipitation of artificial white calcium tungstate from the ammonium paratungstate mother liquor and leaching liquor by adding ammonia water and sodium sulfide to regulate its basicity and then adding calcium chloride. The method has short technological process, high tungsten yield, low alkali consumption and no limit to P, Si and Ca contents in material and its product reaches the requirement of GB3457-820 to 0-level WO3 product.

The tungsten powder prepared by the invention is directly formed into high-intensity pressed compacts without adding any forming agents, and the transverse rupture strength of the pressed compacts reaches 2.5 to 4.0MPa. The tungsten powder prepared by the invention can be widely used for preparing large tungsten products and tungsten alloy products. In the method, ammonium metatungstate is used for direct reduction, and calcination and other intermediate processes are not necessary, thereby process is simple and energy consumption is low.
The granularity of the tungsten powder prepared by the method is controlled to be homogeneous and the sintering activity is high, thereby being benefit for the preparation of high-performance tungsten products.

This technique describes that the commercial sodium tungstate solution is added by H2O2 as complex agent, was decomposed directly into tungstic acid by sulfur dioxide, sulfite or bisulfite in low acidic hydrogen chloride of 0.5-2N at room temparature 10-28 deg.. This technique has abolished some processes like the remove of Mo and CaWO4 comparable to traditional process. It reduces the amounts of consuming-acid, consuming-energy and polution. The tungstic acid product is powder type, high purity, high activity and converted easity into other tungstate products. The yield of tungstic acid was about 98%, 10% higher than traditional one.
