WO3 Nanopowder Applied for Electrochromic Glass

WO3 nanopowder is an inorganic electrochromic material that exists as a layer of transparent electrochromic film on an electrochromic glass. Since Deb discovered the electrochromic phenomenon of tungsten trioxide film in 1969, extensive research has been carried out on inorganic electrochromic materials and great progress has been made.

The electrochromic material is mainly a transition metal oxide, in addition to WO3, there are also MoO3, V2O5, NiOx, etc. and their mixed oxides WO3: Mo, V2O5: Cr and the like. Under the action of external electric field or current, these materials are double injected into the electrochromic material, which form a reversible change in properties, causing a change in optical properties, ultimately achieving the purpose of thermal insulation without affecting the passage of visible light.  That is to say, the tungsten trioxide electrochromic glass can function as a heat insulating glass with heat preservation performance, and therefore, the smart glass is more and more widely applied to buildings.
