Terbium Oxide Price - February 22, 2023

China’s domestic praseodymium, neodymium, dysprosium and terbium markets still maintain a weak operation on February 22, 2023, mainly reflected in the decline in the price of rare earth raw materials, the low sentiment of traders entering the market, and the small actual transaction volume.

However, in order to avoid the risk of cost inversion, suppliers basically maintain rational profit sharing, and wait for the release of the first batch of rare earth mining and smelting indicators this year.

In the light rare earth market, the spot inventory of praseodymium and neodymium has increased rapidly, mainly due to the current market performance of rare earth downstream products such as automobiles and mobile phones, which has led to a decrease in demand from magnetic material companies, mainly to digest inventory, and with the gradual impact of the epidemic. With the weakening of early spring, rare earth manufacturers basically maintain normal production.

In the medium and heavy rare earth market, the price of terbium oxide fell below 13,000 yuan/kg, and the prices of erbium, dysprosium, holmium and other products also fell to a certain extent, mainly due to the insufficient consumption capacity of downstream users and the rapid growth of spot supply in the market. However, supported by favorable factors such as limited imports from Myanmar, there are still many holders who are willing to maintain firm quotations.

In terms of news: According to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, in 2022, the total shipments of mobile phones in the domestic market totaled 272 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 22.6%. Among them, 5G mobile phone shipments were 214 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 19.6%. 78.8% of shipments.
