China Rare Earth Price - August 19, 2022

This week, China rare earth price showed a trend of continuous decline. Under the influence of many uncertain factors, the mentality of light and heavy rare earth traders is slightly different. 

According to Chinatungsten Online, the prices of praseodymium neodymium oxide and praseodymium neodymium metal dropped by about RMB 20,000/ton and RMB 30,000/ton respectively this week.

In the light rare earth market, the market situation is lower than expected. The negative factors mainly include the decrease in demand of magnetic material enterprises. This month, the listed price of rare earth in the north is lowered. The total amount of rare earth mining and smelting separation in the first two batches in 2022 will both increase by 25% year-on-year. However, supported by production costs and limited output by rare earth manufacturers, many suppliers have maintained rational quotations.

In the medium and heavy rare earth market, the overall wait-and-see mood is strong. Although the price of medium and heavy rare earths is difficult to rise due to the poor performance of the light rare earth market, due to the impact of power cuts in many places and the increase in natural disasters such as flash floods, the output of many rare earth production enterprises has decreased. The decline, which is conducive to the holder to support prices.

In terms of news: In the first half of 2022, Hengdian DMC achieved operating income of 9.369 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 64.63%; net profit attributable to the parent was 797 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 45.96%; basic earnings per share were 0.49 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 44.12%. At present, the company's magnetic material industry has an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of ferrite pre-sintered material, 160,000 tons of permanent magnet ferrite, 40,000 tons of soft ferrite, and 20,000 tons of plastic magnets.
